Details
Embarkation commences at 15:30 from Bodrum Harbor, where the captain and crew will receive guests aboard the yacht. Following the placement of luggage, an opportune moment arises to explore the captivating city of Bodrum and experience an initial immersion in its local culture and gastronomy. Bodrum, characterized by its resplendent sunsets and azure waters, invites exploration of its culinary offerings, cultural attractions, and the waterfront adjacent to the notable Bodrum Castle. This historical edifice, constructed with materials from the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, houses an impressive museum dedicated to underwater archaeology, representing an essential point of interest. The first night will be spent aboard the yacht, either within Bodrum harbor or in a proximate bay.
Knidos (Cnidus), Kargi Bay
Departing Bodrum, the yacht will traverse the Gulf of Gokova towards Knidos, a significant archaeological site situated at the confluence of the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas. Located on the southwestern extremity of Turkey's Datca Peninsula, Knidos represents a remarkably preserved ancient settlement. Notable features include the Statue of Demeter. The ancient harbor once
Featured two sentinel lion statues, now housed in the British Museum. The primary points of interest encompass the Temple of Aphrodite and the Necropolis. Ongoing excavations for over half a century continue to yield significant archaeological discoveries. Given its relative remoteness, Knidos is optimally accessed by yacht, establishing it as an essential destination for all yacht charters, promising enduring memories and compelling photographs.
In the late afternoon or early evening, the yacht will moor near the idyllic Kargi Bay, a picturesque inlet on the Mediterranean side of the Datca Peninsula. This bay, characterized by its approximately one-kilometer coastline, offers shelter from northerly and southwesterly winds. Kargi Bay features a natural pond formed by the Kargi Creek, fed by spring waters, the remnants of a resilient church, a boatyard, several cafes, and a beach club. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be provided in Kargi Bay.
Datca, Ano Symi (Symi Island)
The day commences with a morning sail to the picturesque resort town of Datça, offering opportunities for leisurely exploration of its charming shops and cafés. Renowned for its inherent natural beauty and favorable climate, Datça provides a glimpse into the traditional rural Turkish lifestyle of past decades. Exhibiting the finest characteristics of both the Mediterranean and Aegean regions, Datça stands as a rare locale that has preserved its pristine natural environment. The local economy remains centered on agriculture, fishing, and the construction of gulet yachts. Verdant mountainsides, abundant with pine, oak, and myrtle, descend to tranquil beaches and two natural harbors.
Subsequently, the itinerary includes a sail to the petite Greek island of Symi, situated in the straits of Marmaris, closely bordering the Turkish coastline. The striking natural topography is characterized by a jagged coastline featuring sheer cliffs, narrow fjords, secluded coves, and elevated mountains. Historically, Symi prospered due to its successful sponge-diving and boat-building industries, with an annual production of up to 500 vessels, establishing it as the third wealthiest island of the Dodecanese. The island's well-protected natural harbors resulted in Italian and later German occupation. Post-World War II, Symi experienced a decline, and its once grand mansions gradually deteriorated. Presently, an elaborate array of churches, elegant boutiques, seafood restaurants, and cafés line the enchanting harbor, adorned with numerous pastel-hued neo-Classical residences. Distinct from other Dodecanese islands, Symi retains a refined and aristocratic charm, evident in its meticulously restored neo-Classical architecture and the gracious hospitality of its inhabitants. Early evening arrival is scheduled for the fairytale-like harbor, characterized by its pastel-colored, neoClassical dwellings.
Bozburun, Selimiye Bay
Departing Symi harbor, the cruise proceeds to the western coast of the island to visit the serene Panormitis Monastery of the Archangel Michael, notable for its Byzantine frescoes. An opportunity for swimming will be provided at the Bay of St. George before the return voyage to the Turkish coastline. The yacht will then sail into the Gulf of Hisarönü, re-entering Turkey at the fishing village of Bozburun. Historically a center for sponge diving along the Turkish coast, Bozburun's current economy is largely based on the less perilous craft of constructing traditional broadbeamed wooden gulets. This tranquil port town is accessed via a route of considerable scenic merit.
Subsequently, the cruise will continue into the expansive Bay of Selimiye, recognized as one of the safest natural harbors within the Gulf of Hisarönü. Encompassed by magnificent and largely unspoiled landscapes, Selimiye village exudes an atmosphere of timelessness. Situated within the Gulf of Hisaronu, Selimiye's exceptional qualities have been widely praised. A particularly striking natural phenomenon occurs at sunset, when the village is bathed in a deep crimson light.
An ancient Hellenistic castle is located south of the village, and a tomb situated approximately 100 meters offshore has served as a navigational aid for centuries. Selimiye features a lighthouse, theater, and monastery, in addition to its pristine waters and exquisite local cuisine. As an agricultural community, the village offers fresh, locally sourced produce served alongside freshly caught seafood, often accompanied by excellent regional wines.
Bencik Bay
Bencik Bay presents a topography reminiscent of a miniature fjord, with the inlet extending approximately 1.5 nautical miles inland and flanked by steep, wooded inclines. Situated at the isthmus dividing the Hisaronu Gulf and the Gokova Gulf, Bencik experiences crosswinds particularly conducive to sailing. Subsequently, the cruise will proceed northward to Ciftlik Bay, a secluded cove featuring a modest sandy beach located approximately midway along the Datca peninsula.
Palamutbuku, Mersincik Bay
The cruise will proceed to Palamutbuku, the westernmost anchorage within the Gulf of Hisaronu. Palamutbuku is renowned for its exceptionally pristine waters, freshly caught seafood, and delectable locally cultivated almonds. This remarkably tranquil town features highly desirable, lengthy, and serene beaches, verdant streets, and enclosed gardens, creating a picturesque ambiance. A stroll along the seaside offers views into the remarkably limpid waters of the Aegean, affording exceptional underwater visibility even at considerable depths.
Subsequently, the itinerary includes a sail to Mersincik Bay in the Gulf of Gokova, a stunning inlet encircled by towering mountains and woodlands. Its clear, secluded waters render it a preferred overnight anchorage. Characterized by yellow sandy beaches and remarkably clear blue waters, this bay is a favored destination within the local yachting community. Known to locals as Mersincik Limanı, it offers an inviting opportunity for a refreshing swim during a respite from sailing.
Kisebuku (Alakisla Buku), Orak Island, Aquarium Bay (Adabogazi)
Kise Buku, also known locally as Alakisla Buku, is an inlet situated a mere 3 nautical miles from Orak Island, deriving its name from the remnants of an ancient church located within the vicinity. This expansive cove represents a significant stop for Blue Cruises, offering opportunities to explore local attractions such as the aforementioned church ruins, as well as Yalikoyu, Akarca, Fork, the
Summerhouse, Bath, and Cistern. The area is characterized by an abundance of Oleander trees, and the panoramic vista of the cove from elevated points is truly inspiring. Following exploration, guests may enjoy the refreshing waters of the sea before returning to the yacht for relaxation.
Orak Island is distinguished as a prime location for observing marine biodiversity. This picturesque island lies only 10 nautical miles from Bodrum, and its pellucid waters invite exploration of the underwater realm. Orak Island provides numerous favorable anchorages, including many secluded coves.
Akvaryum Bay is a pristine inlet featuring extensive sandy beaches and aquamarine waters. Situated between Bitez and Gumbet, this remarkable bay offers an exceptional respite during a Blue Cruise voyage. Guests can enjoy a relaxing interlude within the bay's explorable confines and observe ducks and geese in its clear waters. Dinner and overnight accommodation will be provided in Akvaryum Bay.
